Mic-1On Thursday’s edition of “Issues” the topic of economic development and growth of the tourism sector was the focus.

Following comments made by the Prime Minister Harris about an over 7% growth for St. Kitts-Nevis in 2015, a statement from Tourism Minister Lindsay Grant that 1500 jobs can be expected from the opening of 4 hotels in the next 5 years, and a report issued by SKNLP leader Dr. Denzil Douglas that the Labour government was responsible for the buoyancy and growth in the economy callers to Freedom Fm’s “Issues” weighed in on which party in government charted the course for where St. Kitts-Nevis is today.

The final caller placed the economic growth in perspective and credited the Right Excellent Sir Robert L Bradshaw for laying the social and economic foundations; She credited Sir Kennedy Simmonds for his pivotal role in exposing the infrastructure and resources; Dr. Denzil Douglas for his dynamic approach and leadership in the Citizenship by Investment.

The caller said the 8 month old Team Unity Government would capitalize on the work done by the previous Labour Administration.

Finally the caller indicated that as some 8 million dollars had been spent on the Basseterre High School, the Team Unity Government should make whatever other improvements were recommended by NIOSH scientists and return to the Basseterre High School at the earliest opportunity to do so.
