An international company, seeking to extend its reach to Antigua, is assuring residents its programme is not a scam, in the face of widespread criticism.

Paycation Travel is the newest company making the surge in the online networking and marketing industry.

A Paycation representative sells and plans vacation packages to the public– often by word of mouth and direct sales.

Typically, distributors earn commissions, not only for their own sales, but also for sales made by the people they recruit.

Critics say the Paycation business is a recruitment travel scam similar to YourTravelBiz.com which was sued in California.

They say the travel commission and website are a cover for running a pyramid scheme and that the vast majority of commissions the firm pays come from new recruits

However, International Executive Akeem Bourne said the programme operates a business model where people are able to control their own destiny.

“You have the opportunity to control your own destiny and earn a significant amount of money from sharing opportunities and from building teams all across the globe. Our company is powered by Priceline and Expedia and American Airlines,” Bourne said.

“When it comes to legitimacy, we are very legit,” he added.

Antigua & Barbuda representative Carla Jacobs also sought to assure nationals the business model is not meant to scam people.
