R. Kelly Will Not Be Charged for Allegedly Giving a Woman an STI

January 10, 2019 in International

Last year an anonymous woman alleged that R. Kelly gave her an STI and held her captive as a sex slave in 2017. Dallas PD reportedly looked into the allegations against the disgraced singer, but now TMZ writes that he will not be charged.

In 2018, the woman in question filed a police report stating that she met Kelly in Dallas in 2017. She says he drugged her an unspecified number of times, tied her up, and gave her an STI. The victim added that the incident in question happened in New York City, and as such she will be making the journey from Texas to Manhattan in order to file a new police report.

Lydia Agu, the anonymous woman’s lawyer, says that she was previously told to file a report with the police in her home state. Dallas PD closed the case on R. Kelly citing “no criminal element,” but Agu says this is down to jurisdictional issues since the alleged assault took place in NYC. She will be filing her new report with NYPD’s Special Victims Unit, and Agu has already filed a civil lawsuit against R. Kelly on behalf of her client.

Kelly is currently under investigation for the litany of accusations against him. On Wednesday (Jan. 9), TMZ reported that cops visited his recording studio in Chicago, one place he allegedly held girls captive as part of his “sex cult.” Sources close to the situation said that when police showed up, the studio was suspiciously empty. Even weirder, there was reportedly a party for R. Kelly at the studio as recently as Tuesday. Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries prompted the visit.

Officers are expected to continue patrolling the area surrounding the studio, which is now listed as for sale. Chicago prosecutors are currently asking victims of R. Kelly to come forward with any information they might have to help their ongoing investigations.
