PM Harris says More Resources Being Put in Place by TUG in Fight against Crime

In an exclusive interview with Freedom Fm on Thursday morning Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris responded to the spiraling gun and gang related crimes that have led to four shooting deaths in Nevis over the last month.

The Prime Minister indicated that the Team Unity Government had a zero tolerance against crimes and that the government was using all its resources in the fight against crime.

Crime did not start two years ago said the Prime Minister who further indicated that the security forces coupled with the communities, have a critical role to play and must support each other if crime is to be controlled, so that SKN can be the safest place in the Western hemisphere.

Freedom Fm’s reporter [Juni Liburd] then asked Prime Minister whether the Government would adopt a more comprehensive and strategic action plan to tackle the recent surge of shooting deaths. Prime Minister Harris responded that the majority of gun related crimes are related to drugs.

He outlined that 12 guns had been taken off the streets in 2017, but there was a need for further border security.
