2016 Oscars-1The Oscars, the Grande Dame of award shows, is upon us. Will this be the year Leonardo DiCaprio take home his first statue? Will “Mad Max: Fury Road” win for best picture? All eyes will be on the 88th Annual Academy Awards this Sunday.

WHEN IS THE OSCARS CEREMONY?

The 2016 Oscars will be simulcast live on Feb. 28, 2016 from the the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

WHAT CHANNEL IS IT ON?

The ceremony starts 8:30 p.m. on ABC. Pre-show arrivals and red carpet coverage starts 7 p.m. on ABC. Expect a loooong night, as is usually the case with most Academy Awards ceremonies. For even more red carpet shenanigans, watch E! beforehand starting at around 6 p.m.

WHO IS HOSTING THIS YEAR’S ACADEMY AWARDS?

For the second time, comedian Chris Rock will host the show. The popular African-American comedian previously hosted in 2005. He’ll return in the wake on this year’s Oscar diversity controversy where several celebrities have complained about the lack of minorities represented in this year’s crop of nominees. An Oscars boycott is planned by several Hollywood A-listers.

WHO’S PRESENTING?

A slew of celebrities that include former past Oscar nominees and winners will be among this year’s presenters: Patricia Arquette, Abraham Attah, Cate Blanchett, Emily Blunt, Steve Carell, Priyanka Chopra, Louis C.K., Common, Russell Crowe, Benicio Del Toro, Chris Evans, Tina Fey, Jennifer Garner, Whoopi Goldberg, Ryan Gosling, Louis Gossett, Jr., Kevin Hart, Lady Gaga, Quincy Jones, Byung-hun Lee, Jared Leto, Rachel McAdams, Julianne Moore, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Eddie Redmayne, Daisy Ridley, Margot Robbie, Jason Segel, Andy Serkis, Sarah Silverman, J.K. Simmons, Sam Smith, Charlize Theron, Jacob Tremblay, Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington, The Weeknd, Pharrell Williams and Reese Witherspoon.

WHO’S NOMINATED FOR AN ACADEMY AWARD?

The two leading contenders of the night will be “The Revenant” which received 12 nominations and “Mad Max: Fury Road” with 10. In total, there will be 24 categories of Academy Awards that will be awarded. If you missed the nominations live-stream, you can watch HERE.

ANY PREDICTIONS?

We’re not exactly the betting type, but if we were, we’d say put it all on Leonardo Di Caprio this year to score a Best Actor statue for “The Revenant” and Sly Stallone for Best Supporting Actor for “Creed.”

WHO WON HONORARY OSCARS?

On Nov. 14, 2015 at the 7th Annual Governors Awards ceremony, Academy Honorary Awards were presented to Spike Lee and Gena Rowlands. Debbie Reynolds received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
