Leader of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) Joseph Parry said on Freedom Fm’s Issues on Tuesday that he was confident that the NRP will form the next government in Nevis whenever local elections are called this year. Parry pointed out that all 5 candidates were ready and that the blend of youth and experience, coupled with the fact that the CCM has failed to perform during their tenure in office, would ensure victory at the polls for the NRP. Parry said “ all the signs are there” that the CCM is on it way out and that the CCM record since taking office is nothing but “a camouflage”.

Mr. Parry extolled the virtues of the NRP candidates in particular Virgil Brown and Cory Tyson. Parry said just a few weeks ago there was a meeting of the CCM executive which met to seek a replacement for CCM leader Vance Amory. Parry indicated there was “serious trouble in the CCM camp, especially over the leadership succession issue. Parry, however observed that Vance Amory was not going anywhere. “No matter how people don’t want to talk about it, it is there. Just a few weeks ago they had a meeting at Mt. Nevis and I understand that the Premier is mourning that among the whole group, only Zouk supported him to stay on all the others said he had to go… and he was not to name or suggest who should replace him in the Gingerland area.

Steadman Truss is his candidate, but is not the candidate of the new leader… there is a lot of talk about that and people are positioning themselves and we say this because you have a party which has not performed and there is confusion, said Parry. The NRP leader was adamant that the NRP chances were very good” at taking back the reins of government in Nevis .
