October 12, 2015 in National

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mark Brantley says that diplomatic appointments under TUG have not increased dismissing claims made by Oppostion Mp Marcella Liburd that such appointments have increased with taxpayers footing a hefty diplomatic bill.

Brantley responded to Liburd in a WINN Fm interview defending the government’s diplomatic appointments, challenging suggestions from the Opposition that the Unity Administration has appointed more ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps than the former government.

However on Wedesdays Issues on Freedom Fm Liburd said the Deputy Premier of Nevis had not responded to the call for transparency by declaring the amount of his double salary. Liburd estimated it was roughly $300, thousand for Brantley and $350 thousand annually for Premier Vance Amory.

Liburd found it unbelievable that Brantley as Foreign Affairs minister did not know the terms and conditions of appointments , including salaries of ambassadors who are being paid from taxpayers money.
