Give Youths a Chance Declares Issues Panelist

Sister Sensia+Lauston Percival+Naeemah Hazelle-1Freedom Fm’s Michelle ‘Sister Sensia’ Stokes told an Issues audience on Freedom Fm on Tuesday that in spite of the fact that minority of youth getting into trouble with the law and getting into gangs one cannot treat youth shabbily and in a disrespectful manner. Stokes said youth deserve opportunities to shine and be positive. As far as the frisking of the youth in schools by the army, she opined that such searches are necessary but leave the guns out of the school environment.

Another guest on the show Ms. Naeemah Hazelle who works with youth gave an assessment of the current youth situation in SKN and declared that not all the students were at risk. Hazelle said we are all a part of the problem, and society needs to come together to save our youth from self destruction and negativity. We are all responsible for the situation our children are in today, and we need to bring our combined resources for change to come about.

The final panelist on the program Constable Lauston Percival of Operation Future called for the activation of the Community Centers so that the youths can go in and get support in what they do. Percival said society, the parents, the school, church had all failed the youth and called for a certified approach to change the trendset of our youth.
