For the third time in consecutive years, the George Moody Stuart School emerged as champion of the “Know Your Country” Primary Schools Quiz.

The Annual Quiz, one of the signature activities of the History and Heritage Month (February-March), is based upon the Social Studies syllabus for Primary Schools in St. Kitts and Nevis. Seventeen schools commenced the first phase from which eight schools advanced to the Semi Final. In the Final, held on Tuesday 3 March at the Anglican Church Hall in Basseterre, the two-member teams from the five finalists contested the championship shield by fielding questions on the geography, history, civics and culture/sports of St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as on Caribbean affairs. The other schools were Estridge Primary, SKI Academy, Seventh Day Adventist and Newton Ground Primary. In the 9 years of the Quiz, six different schools have won at least once. George Moody Stuart is the only school to have won a second – and now, a third time.

The History and Heritage Month of Activities is organized by the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society in association with the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society, the St. Christopher National Trust, the UWI Open Campus and other partners. Its aim is to promote greater awareness and understanding of – and pride in – the history and cultural heritage of St. Kitts and Nevis.
