Former Press Secretary to PM Harris Clecton Phillip Accuses The PLP-Led Timothy Harris Administration of “Lies, Negligence and Incompetence” Over Herpes Vaccine Trials In St Kitts

Former Press Secretary to Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris is accusing the Timothy Harris led Administration of lies, negligence and corruption, with respect to an investigation being carried out by the government on the Herpes Vaccine Trials carried out a year ago in St. Kitts.

“So, we are now hearing that the Ministry of National Security has launched an investigation into the “unethical herpes vaccine trial” that ostensibly took place in St. Kitts in 2016, which the Team Unity administration is claiming it knew nothing about.

Now, I am tempted to say, if you believe that they knew nothing, then I have a bag of ice that I towed behind the Rozal, from Nevis to St. Kitts, to sell you!”

Phillips writing a blog on social media on this matter asks “How is it that some 20 (prescreened) patients, purportedly from the United States, can travel to St. Kitts and Nevis, evade our customs and immigration, evade our entire national security apparatus, live in the country for a period reported to be 6 months (from March to August 2016), engage in activities that are not only unethical but a threat to the health and security of the nation of St. Kitts and Nevis and it’s people, and our government don’t know?” What were they doing…travelling, having a good time, counting their hefty monthly salaries and allowances (double in some cases)…registering cement companies…granting no-bid contracts to friends, family and foreigners…

What were Timothy Harris and his crew doing whilst our children slept not knowing that a threat to their health and well-being loomed ominously around a corner, at a distance eerily unknown?

The former press secretary and PLP executive member stated “Something just does not add up! For if it is true, as they would have the people believe, that Prime Minister Timothy Harris and the other members of his administration had to depend on a report from outside to exclusively identify a threat to our national security, posed by unauthorised and unethical medical practitioners and their (20) patients who entered the country over one year ago, then it becomes “pellucidly clearer” that Harris and Team Unity are negligent and not deserving of the trust and confidence that the people bestowed upon them just over 2 years ago,” remarked Phillip.

And if they are not negligent, but in fact did have knowledge of the herpes vaccine trial, then they are again lying to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and the world, just as they did with the stem cell research project and with Ren Baio, and are even less deserving of the people’s trust and confidence.

But, what do you really expect to come out of this hastily announced investigation into, what US medical authorities have ostensibly described as an “unethical herpes vaccine trial”? Isn’t the Minister who has responsibility for our customs (Finance) and immigration and border protection (National Security) the same minister…that is Prime Minister Timothy Harris? Can one trust an investigation (by a Timothy Harris ministry) on itself?

Can one reasonably expect any credible report to come from this “investigation”, when up to now we have not heard about an investigation into the “Kittitian Authorities” who were reportedly extorting protection money from Chinese fugitive Ren Baio?

Phillip pointed out rhetorically “Look, until Timothy Harris, as leader of the People’s Labour Party, facilitates the inquiry into some $10 million in reported missing campaign funds, I will regard this and any investigation (conducted by this Harris-led Team Unity administration) into unethical and incompetent practices, as just another cover up and a sham. This all adds up, doesn’t it? The missing campaign funds…the illegal stem cell research…the Ren Baio extortion…the unethical herpes vaccine trial…they all, in my mind have something in common…rabid greed. Person(s) desirous of becoming “filthy rich” in very short (even if truncated) period of time, feeding at the public trough like piranhas and using public office and white collar profile as cover. Simple!

My view is, until the people of St. Kitts and Nevis start hiring and firing elected officials until they get the right ones, there will always be those who use public office for rabid profiteering enterprise’, said the former TUG Press Secretary.
