Electoral Offices in St. Kitts & Nevis remain closed

ElectoralOffice-1The Electoral Offices in St Kitts and Nevis continue to be closed some 5 weeks after general elections. From since elections here on February 16 the offices in St Kitts and Nevis remain closed with the workers assigned to the St Kitts office now reporting to the NEMA building at Lime Kiln for work.

According to the Team Unity government, an investigation is being carried out into certain irregularities of the last elections and 2 experts have been brought in to conduct and assist with that investigation. The outside experts have not been named nor the scope of the work to be undertaken.

.In a press release issued by the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Vance Amory and dated 31/3/15 it was announced that due to ongoing investigations, the Electoral Office in Nevis will not be reopened on Wednesday 1st April, 2015, as previously advised but will be reopened on Tuesday 7th April, 2015.

The date of the reopening of the St Kitts office has not been disclosed and the process of continuous voter registration has been therefore temporarily discontinued.
