Travers Sinanan-1St.Kitts- Nevis Labour Party Chairperson, the Hon Marcella Liburd has expressed outrage at what she says is the breaching of the constitution with impunity. Liburd speaking on Freedom Fm popular talk show ISSUES slammed the Attorney General Hon Vicent”Juicy” Byron for terminating the services of the Director of Public Prosecution(DPP).

Liburd, the parliamentary representative for Constituency #2, explained that these actions were unconstitutional. Liburd cited Section 81 of the constitution which speaks to how a DPP can be removed from office.

Liburd said that this action is in line with the politics of spite and victimization. She further noted that this was not the first constitutional breach since the Unity Coalition formed the government following general elections of February 16th.

Liburd, an attorney by profession, underscored that the DPP’s appointment is provided for by our constitution and cannot be dismissed as was the case over the August holiday weekend when he was asked to demit office and hand over keys to the government house in which he lives.
