CCM Clueless on Crime says Senator Powell

September 02, 2015 in National

CarlyslePowell-1NRP Senator Carlysle Powell speaking on Freedom Fm’s “Issues St. Kitts-Nevis” on Monday said that the CCM led Nevis Island Administration offers no hope or actual plan for progress and prosperity in Nevis. Powell was particularly critical of the Government’s lame attempts at resolving violent crime of armed robberies and homicides on Nevis.

Powell said before CCM’s Deputy Premier the Honorable Mark Brantley got into power he knew how to solve crime if elected. “Brantley brought out an 8 point plan which he seems to have lost as up to now he cannot produce one of them and deal with this massive escalation of crime on Nevis”. Senator Powell indicated that there have been some 20 murders on Nevis since the CCM took the reins of power.

He lamented the fact that of the 20 murders, he is not aware that anyone has been arrested and in custody. “With every murder you may hear of someone being detained, but then they are set free”, Powell declared. “No one is in custody for the murders of Albert Myers, Wayne Ferlance, Pableto Hanley, Javon Bartlette, Everette Hanley, and Davron Griffin.”

Powell described Brantley’s 8 point crime plan as nothing more than “showboating” as he knew how to get people petrified about the crime factor. Since being elected the CCM has failed miserably to address the crime situation on Nevis. Powell said the recent decision to use the SKNDF was ineffective as they were mostly posted in the hills to arrest the marijuana plants and not arrest the criminals and murderers walking free in our midst.
