The Allure of the Seas, one of the world’s largest cruise ships, has cancelled several calls to St. Kitts’ Port Zante.
The Allure of the Seas, then the world’s largest cruise ship, first visited St. Kitts on December 30th 2011.
The Ministry of Tourism and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority said Monday they have been advised of a propulsion issue with Royal Caribbean’s ship.
“Due to the issue, the ship has altered some of its itineraries and will also be going to dry dock for repairs. Therefore, the Allure of the Seas has cancelled its call to St. Kitts on Thursday 7th September 2017; 5th October 2017; 2nd November 2017; 28th December 2017, and 25th January , 2018.
Allure of the Seas is currently the second largest cruise ship in the world at 225,000 gross tons. The ship entered service in 2010 and carries up to 6,300 passengers. The vessel currently sails week long cruises to the Caribbean out of Port Everglades.
Prior to its inaugural call on December 30th 2011, Royal Caribbean International, Vice President of Government Relations, Michael Ronan said he was delighted to bring the world-renowned Allure of the Seas to St. Kitts.
Mr. Ronan said “while Allure of the Seas is the world’s largest and most revolutionary cruise ship, the ship’s ports of call are also very important to our guests. We look forward to bringing more of them to beautiful and vibrant St. Kitts.”
Then Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Sen. the Hon. Richard Skerritt said he was “proud of the fact that St. Kitts has been making great strides forward in the cruise industry.”
