Radio Stations on St. Kitts are collaborating to ensure that they are able to get back on the air. On Tuesday Freedom Fm, ZIZ, WINN FM, Dominion Radio, Kyss Fm and Radio St Kitts Nevis have contracted Clyde Lewis of Wheels Enterprise ltd, The owner and operator of a backhoe. He will facilitate the clearing of boulders, fallen trees and other rubble left in the wake of hurricane Irma.
On Monday Freedom’s CEO, Juni Liburd issued an apology on behalf of the station indicating that Freedom Fm not being on air was as a result of a power outage at the transmitter sites at Ottleys Level and Spooners.
“Freedom Fm apologises to our Freedom family, fans and friends that we have been unable to come on air because of the lack of power{electricity} at our transmitter sites at Ottleys Level and Spooners.”
Liburd futher stated that while SKELEC was at the time assessing the situation, “Downed electricity lines, fallen trees and rocks are deterrents to having this work completed in the shortest time frame.”
Meanwhile on Wednesday morning Minister of Public Infrastructure Ian Patches Liburd indicated that It is anticipated that power will be restored today.
