19 Security Workers Terminated Today at Belmont Farm

Some 19 workers, who have been providing security for Belmont Farm which encompasses Kittitian Hill, have received notices today September 9, 2016, effectively terminating their jobs there. No prior notice was given to the Security Officers, but in a letter from the management company dated September 9, the company informed the displaced workers that it was necessary “to reorganize the entire structure of Security at the hotel to enhance the overall efficiency of the system and the department. Consequently the entire department, known as the Security Department and the positions therein will be eliminated effective 9 September 2016. The company however assured that “you are entitled to 2 weeks notice of termination pay.

Additionally, you will receive payment for regular hours worked in this pay period as well as unused vacation earned or accrued. Additionally, according to one of the workers, starting today other workers from other departments has taken up security detail that was previously provided by the Security workers who were sent home.

Freedom Fm spoke to one of the displaced workers who said because of the sudden notice given by the company, he was not sure when or where he would find a new job. He indicated that his job hunt starts today.
