The Young professionals are based at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, taking up two-year positions in areas of work such as economic policy, human resources and youth. During the two-year period, they provide technical and administrative support to programmes and operations.

In addition to living in one of the world’s leading cities, YPs benefit from a structured programme of professional development and mentoring, working with high-level decision-makers and technical experts.

St. Kitts native, Melissa Bryant, was one of the specially invited guests to Freedom Fm’s innovative Youth Beat program and spoke about her recent participation in the Commonwealth Young Professionals Programme in London.

Bryant, a former assistant communications officer at the Young professionals programme encouraged youths in the federation to apply to the programme as it would afford them the opportunity to acquire technical experience in an area they are interested in.

Areas such as communications, health and education, human resources professionals etc.

She informed that the ethnically diverse and tight-knit programme offeres participants the opportunity to travel, network, and be employed in a different country.
