hanging-1Shockwaves are still rippling through the community of Old Road after villagers discovered the lifeless body of Charlesworth Albert Roberts hanging from a “dumbz” tree Saturday morning. Roberts, originally from the Wallings area, was reportedly discovered by villagers around 9:05 am.

Eyewitness reports indicate that before the tragic incident, the man was seen walking around the village asking for a knife. The reports also say Roberts was heard repeating Psalms 23. One eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, claimed he saw the man tie a rope to the tree and climbed the tree, before tying it to his neck and jumping.

Efforts to stop the decease were unsuccessful. Police at the Johnson’s Point Station responded to the call of a man attempting to hang himself but arrived too late to restrain him. This media house was informed that Roberts has been suffering from an unspecified mental illness for a long period of time, believed to have been Alzheimer’s disease.

Police do not suspect foul play in Roberts’ death. However they are still investigating the matter and will await the outcome of an autopsy to determine the course of their investigations.
