PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — The United States and Trinidad and Tobago will continue to work on matters related to security and trade, according to reports from the twin island republic.

The decision was the outcome of a conversation between Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and US President Donald Trump on Sunday afternoon, shortly before 5:00pm (local time).

Other issues of mutual interest to both Trinidad and Tobago and the US were also placed on the table.

A release from the prime minister’s office on Sunday said Trump acknowledged that both countries have had a close working relationship, which will continue to be strengthened.
