St. Kitts and Nevis wishes St. Vincent and the Grenadines Happy 35th Anniversary

PMDouglas+PMRalphGonsalvesThe Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has congratulated Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves on another milestone – 35th Anniversary of Nationhood.

“Over the years, you have experienced numerous daunting challenges but have demonstrated a penchant to rise above them. History reveals that you have been successful in turning those challenges into blessings,” said Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

He pointed out that the theme selected for this year’s celebration: “Working Together to Enhance National Pride,” encapsulates the combined efforts and the patriotic fervour which have enabled the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to be resilient.

“These are the essential elements to assist in and be successful in nation-building. This is indeed an opportune moment to reflect upon the plethora of sacrifices your people have made, all redounding to a more prosperous St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” said Prime Minister Douglas in his congratulatory message.

Dr. Douglas noted that as a fellow member of CARICOM to another, “I urge us to continue to work together in the area of regional integration in particular, executing with full confidence the planned projects and programmes for the mutual benefit of all our citizens.”

He used the opportunity to commend his CARICOM colleague for his continuing advocacy within the international community for reparations for Slavery and voice on behalf of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) insofar as climate change is concerned.

“Of course, your astute leadership has certainly been pivotal in ensuring that your country continues to journey in the 21st Century with a great sense of pride and prosperity,” Prime Minister Douglas told Mr. Gonsalves.
