Douglas-1Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the SKNLP Dr Denzil Douglas says although the country voted for change in 2015, one year into a Team Unity Government, the country is regretting the change of government.

Douglas while speaking at the SKNLP public meeting on Thursday night in Newtown said at the Caricom regional level, Dr Harris is regarded as a failure.

Dr Douglas said investors had lost confidence, the economy was shrinking and public servants, police officers, workers on the Industrial Site and construction workers were not better off than they were one year ago.

Dr Douglas asked the rhetorical question if different strata in the society such as students, PEP workers and nurses were better off after the change of Government on February 16, 2015.

Meanwhile the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour party held a massive public meeting at George Street, Newtown and announced a march scheduled for Friday at 4 pm from the bust of the last national hero Sir C. A. Paul Southwell on the Industrial site.

Parliamentary representative for constituency #3 the Honorable Konris Maynard, while speaking at the meeting announced that Prime Minister and minister of National Security Dr the Honorable Timothy Harris had previously denied permission for the march on the original route but this was subsequently reversed on a revised route.

Maynard thanked the High Command of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force for giving permission and invited the thousands in attendance at the meeting to come out to the march against victimization, unemployment, crime and poor governance.

Meanwhile the SKNLP representative for constituency #1 Dr Earl Asim Martin said everyone including the Spanish, the young, and old from all sectors of the community should march because after 1 year of a Team Unity Government, people of St. Kitts-Nevis had nothing to celebrate or smile about including Calypso Legend Ellie Matt, who was promised a house and land by the elected representative for constituency #1, the Honorable Ian Patches Liburd.
