Violence-1The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police force is investigating a brazen robbery executed at the Food Centre, Buckley’s on Friday (July 24) afternoon when individuals, entered the establishment and robbing it of a sum of money. A press release issued by the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David informs that the incident occurred sometime around 4:30 p.m.

It has been reported that three individuals committed the act but according to the police communiqué, the two men, who were masked, armed and bedecked in black clothing, “entered the business establishment and robbed the establishment of an undisclosed sum of money.”

The communiqué further indicated that during the incident, one of the wholesale business’ employees was robbed of their cell phone.

They reportedly made good their escape by “running north of the premises through Buckley’s Estate after committing the robbery”.

Several units attended to the scene following the incident to secure it and conduct investigations. According to the police, these units were the Police K9 Unit, the Criminal Investigations Department, the Forensic Services Unit, the Special Services Unit and the K9 Unit of the Ross Veterinary School.

Later on Friday a male was stabbed while at a promotional event on Central Street. He was reportedly taken from the scene via the Emergency Medical Services and transported to the hospital.

Meanwhile during the early-morning hours of Saturday an altercation transpired among some individuals and ended with at least two persons being seriously injured on the frigate bay strip.

Acting Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd however, confirmed that “a sharp cutting object” was used in the incident and at least two men had to be hospitalized as a result.

It has been reported that both had to undergo surgery and are currently warded at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.
