ECMoney-1Opposition alliance Team Unity is considering going to court to question the validity of Bills passed in Parliament by the SKNLP government on August 18th. According to the Opposition, these Bills were passed in the Federal Parliament without the requisite three-fifths support of Members of Parliament. The Opposition MP’s who continue to lobby for the tabling of a now over 20-month old Motion of No Confidence, walked out of Parliament in protest during the August 18th session. In addition ousted SKNLP Senior Mp now Leader of that alliance, Hon Dr Timothy Harris having accused the government of playing games with the public by giving the impression that the country is cash rich while at the same time incurring more debt for taxpayers, is now calling on the government to withdraw the resolution from the parliament.

Harris was at the time challenging recent statements made on Freedom Fm by the Financial Secretary Ms Hillary Hazel. Ms Hazel while speaking to Freedom Fm provided a comprehensive explanation in regard to each resolution. She said that the government had not at that time embarked on any new borrowing and Financial Analyst Schneidman Warner agrees that the government is not adding to its debt. Speaking on Winn Fm recently Warner said that the financial secretary is 100 per cent right as every year the government has to seek renewal of previous permission. He indicated that the amount of the overdraft facility was indeed lowered.

Meantime on GMSKN on Monday morning SKNLP spokesman Austin Edinborough challenged Dr Harris as a former Minister of Finance that he had never brought the same resolutions to parliament.
