blazersvswarriors-1LONDON, England (CMC) – Leicester City’s captain, Reggae Boy Wes Morgan, on Saturday lifted the English Premier League trophy and said afterward it was important that next season the club builds on their amazing success. The East Midlands club comfortably beat Everton 3-1 at home at the King Power Stadium, to celebrate their capture of the league title which had been assured since Monday when nearest challengers Tottenham Hotspur were held to a draw by London rivals Chelsea.

“Hopefully we can crack on from here. It’s a big, big season next season but we’ll see what happens. Right now I just want to enjoy the moment,” the 32-year-old Jamaican said. Morgan added: “It’s been unbelievable. The best, best, best time of my life. It’s hard to describe, I can’t put it into words. It’s like a dream, but now it’s reality. I just want to enjoy every minute of it.

“I think we’ve always believed, it has been the people around us that weren’t really convinced that we could do it. But we knew our capabilities, we played all the other teams and knew that on our day we were as good, if not better, than all the other teams.” Leicester barely escaped relegation from the Premier League last season and started this season at odds of 5,000-1 to win the league for the first time in their 132-year history.

However, the side led by relative unknowns in striker Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante proceeded to stun their rivals, losing just three games en route to clinching the title with two games to spare. Morgan said focus, consistency and unity had been key to Leicester’s amazing run in the English top flight. “It’s just performing week in week out, concentrating, ignoring what’s going on around us and just doing our job,” he pointed out. “It’s just the togetherness of the boys, we are such a tight group of guys, we do everything together and there are no egos in our team. No one’s above their station.”
