FREEDOM FM has been reliably informed that the Press Secretary to PM Harris, Mr. Clecton Phillip has resigned. It is understood that Mr. Phillip has officially submitted his resignation to the TEAM UNITY Government.
A top government source confirmed Mr. Phillip resignation on Friday morning according to local media reports.
The former CHIPPIE Executive was a political activist for Team Unity while in opposition. He also served as General Secretary of the fledgling Peoples Labour Party (PLP) of Prime Minister Harris, when UNITY took the reins of Government on February 16, 2015.
During Wednesday’s edition of Issues, Chairperson of the SKNLP Marcella Liburd indicated that she had heard that Phillip had resigned from government.
In recent weeks, Mr. Phillip has been noticeably “Missing in Action” as Press Secretary, was rarely seen at press conferences and has not sent out any press release since October 2015. Freedom FM tried to contact Mr. Phillip via telephone for comment on Friday morning without success.
