Police Investigating Shooting in Old Road: Suspect Held in Village Shooting Death

police_updateThe Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is currently investigating a shooting incident in Old Road, St. Kitts.

One person, a 29 year old male resident of Boyd’s Village was injured in the incident. The shooting occurred at around 8.00am on Thursday (October 27). Initial investigations revealed that an unknown assailant fired several gunshots at the victim, striking him several times in both legs. The victim was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital and treated. Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence. The Police appeals to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or any activity in the area to please contact the Police with the information.

Meanwhile Police have confirmed that a suspect is in custody in connection to the homicide in St. Johnston Village Tuesday afternoon.Freedom Fm understands that a suspect was held on Tuesday night but that to date no charges have been laid.Twenty-nine-year-old Marlon “Mabo” Mills, a resident of that area was shot several times in the head while sitting in a parked rental car on a street connecting St. Johnston and Cardin Avenues.

Police are also investigating a number of House and Building breakings that occurred in the following areas: Molineaux, Buckleys Estate and at the Charlestown Secondary School. Police executed a number of search warrants over the period of this report. The Warrants were executed in the following areas: Irish Town Bay Road and New Road.

Meanwhile officers from Newcastle Police Station, Task Force and the St.Kitts Nevis Defence Force conducted a bush patrol operation from Butlers Village to Maddens Estate via the mountain side. During the operation, they discovered and uprooted and seized a total of 74 marijuana plants and 53 seedlings which were seen growing in the areas.
