Parliamentary Representative for Central Basseterre, Hon Marcella Liburd, Presents Third Annual Awards to Irish Town Primary School

Marcella Liburd+Recipients-1The Parliamentary Representative for Central Basseterre, Hon Marcella Liburd, today Monday 9th November 2015, presented the third annual awards to children of the Irish Town Primary School for the 2014 – 2015 school year.

Shanniah Flemming and Calique Bennett were the winners of the awards for the students of Grade 6 who excelled academically and who exhibited good behaviour but who are from low-income families.

While Jaheem Nisbett and Unique Ponde, the victor and victrix ludorum, were winners of the sports awards.

According to the Hon Marcella Liburd the idea behind these awards is to encourage the educational and sporting development of the children of the area while at the same time emphasising the importance of good manners and good behaviour.

The Parliamentary Representative thanked the Headmistress and staff and the parents for their assistance and congratulated the winners while challenging the other children to compete for the awards for the 2015-2016 school year.
