Man shot inside St. Kitts’ J N F Hospital Tuesday morning, dies of injuries

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 20TH 2017 – Darnell “Bushman” Govia became the federation’s latest murder victim when he was chased down and shot several times to his head and body.

The shooting incident occurred at St. Kitts’ J. N. France General Hospital early Tuesday morning sometime after 8 am. Despite emergency surgery Govia succumbed to his injuries and died.

Persons at the laboratory ducked for cover after a lone gunman opened fire on Govia. JNF workers and visitors had to run for their lives as shots rang out during the usual morning routines at the JNF.

According to reports Govia also known as “Bushman” was at the hospital waiting on a friend who was at the laboratory.

“Another fellow came through the hospital looking for him. Govia ran in the direction of the lab and was followed by the gunman who fired bullets at him,” the person said.

Reports are that Bushman received up to 8 bullets to his head, neck and body.

A Police press release confirmed the shooting and police were at the scene conducting ongoing investigation. Tuesday morning’s shooting death takes the murder count to 16 for 2017.
