Konris issues call for young persons to get involved in politics

St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) Mp Konris Maynard has issued a call for young persons to become involved in the political process. Speaking on Freedom Fm’s popular talk show “Issues” last Wednesday, Maynard said it is important for persons to be engaged and aware of the issues at hand.

Maynard revealed that some eighteen young people have signed on with the SKNLP to become candidates for next general elections.

While Maynard did not reveal whether or not candidates have been selected Freedom Fm understands that decisions have been made by the selections committee in three constituencies.

Numerous reports indicate that Dr Norgen Wilson stepped down on Sunday. He passed the torch to Kenny Douglas at a Const #5 Branch Executive Meeting.

There have also been reports that Leon Natta will come up against Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris in constituency 8. He will replace Dr Vance Gilbert.

The have been reports that Dr Geoffery Hanley will replace Dr Asim Martin in constituency number 1.

Speaking to Freedom Fm’s News Desk on Monday, Chairperson of the SKNLP the Hon. Marcella Liburd confirmed that the Candidate Selection Committee has completed its task and has forwarded reports of their recommendations to the party executive. Liburd further revealed that the final decision will be made by the executive shortly.
