Jamaican in court on drug charges

dwayne-omar-swaby-1A Jamaican man, Dwayne Omar Swaby, 37, is expected to face the court today on a number of drug charges after he was intercepted, Monday with the contraband at the VC Bird International Airport.

He arrived on the island aboard Caribbean Airline Flight #459 from Jamaica.

Narcotics Police and Customs Officers nabbed Swaby at the airport with 18 pounds of compressed cannabis hidden inside several cans of ‘factory sealed’ cheese and fruit juices.

The Mandeville resident faces charges of importation of cannabis; possession of cannabis; possession with intent to supply, and drug trafficking.

The drugs carry an estimated street value of $72,000.
