timothy-1BASSETERE, ST. KITTS – Who owns T & S Car Rentals? That is the question been asked by Clecton Phillip, the former Press Secretary to St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister, Dr. The Hon. Timothy S. Harris.

“The Team Unity administration, led by Prime Minister/Minister of National Security/Minister of Finance Dr. T S Harris, who is yet to inform the nation of the name(s) of the owner(s) of T&S Rentals – a vehicle rental company whose cars are seen regularly (in Basseterre) being driven and utilised by members of the Police Force and the Defence Force, has not fulfilled its promise with regard good governance… the “rooting” of “empowerment and truth.” Phillip stated in the SKN@yahoogroups.com

“Interestingly, it was only yesterday that WinnFM Senior Journalist, Ken Richards, told Lindsay Grant (to his face) – during a morning radio programme addressing several matters including good governance – ‘Mr. Grant, I can tell you to your face right now, a lot of propaganda is coming out of the Team Unity government’.” Phillips further stated.

He recalled that good governance was a key issue on the Team Unity election platform and promises were made. After listing the scores of promises made, Mr. Phillip, who broke ranks with Prime Minister Harris noted “sadly and disappointingly, after more than 16 months in office, Dr. T S Harris and his TU administration has steadfastly not heeded the increasing demand of Citizens and Residents of SKN, including key Team Unity supporters, that steps be taken without further delay to:

  1. give effect to the Integrity in Public Life Law;
  2. pass and give effect to Freedom of Information legislation and
  3. establish a functioning Parliamentary Accounts Committee, as required by the National Assembly Elections Act.
