Robert Jeffers-1Former Commissioner of Police Robert Jeffers speaking to Freedom Fm “Issues” on Monday on the request by the Government to have the FBI come in to St. Kitts-Nevis in the fight against crime, says from his experience FBI will not come into St. Kitts-Nevis to investigate and solve the local crime.

Jeffers said if US Officials, students or property was threatened, the FBI would come in to protect its interests. Jeffers said the FBI has also been invited in with homicides of US citizens or government officials.

The former Commissioner of Police said that more training of police officials, effective management, leadership and commitment to resources would be needed to prevent and detect gun related robberies and homicides.

Jeffers said police should put more effort into community policing and leadership at the department level as police could not be everywhere when a crime was taking place.
