The Member of Parliament for Constituency #2, Marcella Liburd told a Freedom Fm Issues audience on Wednesday, that teachers who conduct after school tutorials and classes, now have to pay rent to the Team Unity Government for these classes.
Speaking on the SKNLP sponsored Wednesday edition of Issues also carried live on Kyss Fm, Liburd charge that the teachers have gotten letters from the Ministry of Education informing them that they must now pay rent to use the classrooms. “And not just pay rent… but pay rent per student” Liburd declared. Liburd said one teacher had already paid $600.00.
The Central Basseterre representative said that it was the students who would suffer in the end and said the policy showed continued victimization and disdain for teachers, who have nothing to celebrate after two years of a Team Unity Government.
