Nine time Calypso Monarch, Chalkdust (Hollis Liverpool), will defend his crown in position nine at the finals of the National Calypso Monarch competition on Dimanche Gras night on Sunday at the Queen’s Park Savannah on Sunday.

The draw for positions in the competition was held yesterday at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in Port of Spain.

Chalkdust, the 76 year old veteran calypsonian, who is up against a slate of young guns like Voice (Aaron St Louis), Helon Francis, Alana Sinnette-Khan and Stacey Sobers, will also have to contend with some seasoned campaigners, in the likes of Sugar Aloes (Michael Osuna), Singing Sandra (Sandra Des Vignes-Millington), Kurt Allen and Skatie (Carlos James).
