PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Wednesday January 6, 2016 – A 30-year-old businessman has been charged with multiple counts of child prostitution, human trafficking and assault, following a three and a half-month investigation by law enforcement officers.

Anthony Smith was due to appear in the Port of Spain Magistrate Court today, after being charged yesterday.

Police say the proprietor was held after extensive investigations that began on September 23, 2015, following a raid at a house in Arouca.

Smith is facing one charge of recruiting a child for the purpose of trafficking; 17 charges of sexually penetrating a child contrary; five charges of child prostitution; and three charges of assault.
