Appeal court sets date for hearing

Labour-1A St.Kitts-Nevis Labour Party(SKNLP) Rally scheduled for Sunday evening in Old Road had to be cancelled as a result of unfavorable weather conditions. Candidates of the SKNLP ,including Konris Maynard, Dr. Vance Gilbert, Dr. Terrance Drew, Dr. Norgen Wilson and PM Douglas however conducted the meeting from the studios of Freedom Fm.

The meeting was chaired by Nigel Carty

The federation’s prime minister, the Hon.Dr Denzil Douglas speaking at the time, recounted from his perspective, the court actions in regard to boundary changes on the island. PM Douglas indicated that the OECS Supreme Court will meet Monday to hear arguments in the Constituency Boundaries matter that is before it. The Appeal Court had earlier issued an interim injunction barring the use of new constituency boundaries in the next election until the matter was heard on February 9, three days after Nomination Day. The Labour Party leader said such an arrangement would pose serious problems for the Electoral office.

Meanwhile in BREAKING NEWS: The Government’s Application to have the Appeal to have the new Injunction discharged, brought forward from February 9th to a date before Nomination Day has been granted. The Appeal will now be heard at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4th in St. Lucia.
