44th CARIFTA games a huge success

TeamStKitts+Nevis-1The staging of the 44TH Carifta Games was a massive success for Hosts St.Kitts-Nevis as well as overall winners Team Jamaica along with a number of participating countries most of who had unprecedented medal hauls.

Hosts St.Kitts-Nevis won a record 11 medals and placed fifth overall in the Youth Caribbean Championships .

St.Kitts-Nevis played hosts to the event which was staged at the now renamed Kim Collins Athletic Stadium. The renaming of the stadium, which was formerly called the Silver Jubilee Stadium was the highlight of the 4 day CARIFTA Games weekend.

Collins travelled from Europe where he has been tearing up the indoor track circuit with an undefeated 10 race run to be a part of the ceremony which honored his tremendous contribution to St.Kitts-Nevis and in particular athletics.

The Games drew over 10,000 persons over the 4 day weekend event filling and the stands of the Kim Collins National Athletic Stadium daily . Jamaica ended the meet with a record haul of 85 MEDALS including 41 gold.
