17 of 219 Murders solved in St. Kitts and Nevis in a 10-year period 2005 to 2015

Police-1Law Enforcement here in St. Kitts and Nevis continues to struggle as they attempt to solve a number of murders here in the country.

While reports from the Police indicate that crime is on the decline, a large number of murders have gone unresolved.

Research done by the VON NEWSLINE reveals that for the 10-year period, that is 2005 to 2015, there have been 219 murders.

Of the 219, research shows that only 17 of those murders have been solved for a 7 per cent rate.

A breakdown of the murders by years show that in 2005 there were 8 murders, in 2006-17, 2007-15, 2008-20, 2009 28 and in 2010-20.

In 2011, there was a record 34 murders, in 2012, that figure dropped to 16, by 2013 it again climbed to 23, in 2014-24, and so far in 2015-14 murders have been recorded.
