Asim Martin+Marcella Liburd-1Retired civil servant and Team Unity activist Sylvene Henry in a call to Freedom Fm’s Issues on Wednesday took the opposition SKNLP to task for what she termed dishonesty in dealing with payments for health care the JNF.

Henry says she spent some $37,000 during the time of her husband’s care at the institution.

But SKNLP Chairperson & Mp for constituency #2 the Hon Marcella Liburd accused Henry of hypocrisy.

Liburd said in addressing the issues faced at the JNF, she was specifically speaking to the Accident & Emergency department of the JNF where people are now paying.

Liburd reiterated that she was not speaking about regular payments made by patients who had been admitted to the JNF.

Liburd indicated that Health Minister the Hon Eugene Hamilton had instructed nationals to “walk with your credit cards, the debit card or cash” as payments will now have to be made for services rendered by the Accident & Emergency Department of the JNF.

Liburd pointed out that this was a departure from what was in place under an SKNLP Government when payment was made at A&E only if you had insurance.

Meanwhile Former Health Minister and Deputy Leader of the SKLP Asim Martin says he has nothing to apologise for in responding to a caller on issues on Wednesday who said the Unity Government had inherited a situation at the JNF, where supplies were short and bills high.

During his presentation on issues, Dr Martin pointed to a number of concerns at the JNF where toilet paper, pillows, bed sheets and other supplies are in scarce supply.

Martin said the current problems faced at the JNF should be handled by Health Minister Eugene Hamilton & Wendy Phipps, who had all the answers when they were in opposition.

Martin said it is they who should apologise.
