RBC Royal Bank St.Kitts was a buzz of excitement on Friday at the Circus and Wellington Road Branches as RBC customers lined up in droves to take out their hard earned money. The customers of royal bank say they cannot afford the Royal Bank imposition of the $25 monthly levy plus Vat on their savings accounts and as the May 23rd deadline approaches, they are withdrawing their funds.

Freedom Fm was live at the Royal Bank branch at the Circus downtown Basseterre and spoke to several customers who were on line waiting to close down their accounts.

Freedom Fm spoke to RBC branch manager Mr Allen who informed that an RBC press release will be issued shortly on the matter. RBC customers across the region in Antigua, St Vincent and the Grenadines and other Caribbean countries are similarly closing out their accounts because of the exorbitant monthly fees charged. There’s also a planned silent protest by the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party against the RBC measure. Party officials said they will gather at 4p.m Friday afternoon at the Treasury apron.
