The Big J.L.

Clement Juni Liburd was born in Mc Knight, St. Kitts and grew up in Dorset and Market Street. He was educated at the Basseterre Boys School and the Basseterre High School. He received a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences and English from UWI (Mona) and two Masters (M.Sc.) degrees in Education and Broadcasting at Brooklyn College in New York, USA.

Juni Liburd is a pioneer and legend in the field of Broadcasting and Media relations. Early in his life he worked at ZIZ Radio & TV as a disc jockey/newscaster and went on to become General Manager of ZIZ and Media Consultant to the Government of St. Kitts & Nevis.

As an educator he has taught extensively in St. Kitts-Nevis and the USA in public and private schools including the Basseterre High School (St. Kitts), The Gilbert School, Adelphi Business School, P.S. 21 and P.S. 304 in the USA. Mr. Liburd has distinguished himself in the community as a marketing and communications specialist for the St. Kitts Music Festival, National Carnival and in the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Cooperatives and Marine Resources. He also worked as the Director of the St. Kitts Nevis Information Service (SKNIS).

Mr. Liburd has an outstanding track record in Radio and TV as one of our most experienced and versatile talk show hosts of “Hard Talk” and “Journey”.

His lifelong commitment to grassroots organizations and people in general speaks to his unswerving love for the cultural art forms: drama and poetry. He is an accomplished poet/writer and has published “Riddims of Life,” “Messages from the folk,” “Savacou” and “La Laps” and wrote a thesis for his bachelor’s degree on “The growth and development of the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party 1930-1995.”

Mr. Liburd is a family man with eight children.
