Fm is reliably informed that the traditional World Teachers’ Day march scheduled for October 5th, will not take place this year.
An official communiqué sent to all members by the St. Kitts’ Teachers Union indicated that “the Ministry of Education has not approved leave on Wednesday October 5th as is normally done. Teachers and other Education Workers are therefore advised to report to their places of work”.
The Ministry has opted not to grant permission for leave from work for the hosting of the 5th Annual Education Conference and Officers retreat scheduled for Thursday, October 6th.
Teachers are therefore being advised to report to work as they will not have this day off as is the customs.
