National Bank Board Resigns

March 19, 2015 in National

CurtisMartin-1Reports reaching Freedom FM indicate that the entire Board of Directors of the National Bank, with the exception of Board member, Mr. Hastings Daniel has resigned. The other Board members submitted their resignations on February 19th giving one month’s notice. Reports are however, that the Attorney General asked that they resign sooner, and they backdated their resignation letters to the end of February. It is anticipated that a new board will be appointed by early next week.

Meantime, Freedom Fm has been informed that Curtis Martin, the Bank’s Chief Human Resources officer who served as Speaker of the National Assembly in the last Parliament, has been sent on one month’s paid leave.

Mr. Martin last served in the National Assembly as Speaker. During the last 2 years of his tenure Martin refused to table a Motion of No Confidence against the government of PM Douglas brought by the then Team Unity Opposition, who also demonstrated against Speaker Martin at his workplace at National Bank.

The government is the majority shareholder at National Bank, and the action against Martin at National Bank has brought cries of discrimination and victimization from the SKNLP Opposition.
