“MOVE, LEARN and DISCOVER” The World’s celebration of Olympic Day

olympic-1MOVE, LEARN and DISCOVER, is again the theme for the World’s celebration of Olympic Day. This day will be celebrated on the 23rd June. As it is an Olympic year, a new twist has been added to the annual Olympic Run.

This year the programme includes:

1. Dance Gala on Saturday 18th June starting at 7:00 p.m at the CIRCUS. There will be movements to music from various groups and individuals. There will be the young, the middle aged and the seniors showing movements to music. Spectators will also be invited to share in the night’s activity by participating in demonstration lessons in Ballroom Dancing.

2. Executive and Managers Street Relay. This will be held on Saturday 25th June at 4:30 p.m. This will start at the Anglican Church, then move down Church Street, onto Liverpool Row, up Fort Street, east on Cayon Street, down West Independence Square Street, onto Bank Street ending at the CIRCUS.

3. Sunday 26th June will see culmination to this year’s activities. The day begins with the usual Church Service at 9:00 a.m at the Methodist Church. Later in the afternoon beginning at 4:30p.m the Olympic Run which will start just outside the Olympic House on Taylor’s Range. The Run will proceed west along Taylor’s Range, down Victoria Road and end on the Bay Road. There will be a little twist in the Run when we get to the Traffic.

At the end of the Run, athletes will be engaged in a number of sport disciplines just infront of RAM’S and COURTS. These include Fast-five Netball, Futsol (small version of football) and Volleyball. In addition some other street games to be introduced to the general public.

An invitation is therefore extended to the general public to come on out and support and also participate in these activities. Your participation will indeed strengthen the theme MOVE, LEARN AND DISCOVER.
