Minister of Education the Hon Shawn k. Richards met with the staff of the Basseterre High School on Thursday 26th May from 8:30am to 3pm to address concerns expressed by teachers over the management style of Principal Ron Collins.
According to reliable reports the BHS staff is concerned about Collins continued lack of respect for his staff, the lack of morale at the BHS and the deterioration of the education process at the BHS. It is understood that a high powered team from the Ministry if Education, including Minister Richards, The chief Education officer and other Education officers met on Thursday to hear both sides of the ongoing dispute.
The meeting was described as extremely long as teachers gave details of their concerns and related experiences with Principal Collins. It is reported that Principal Collins gave reasons for the overall management of the school and said he would implement changes where necessary.
For his part, Education Minister asked for cooperation between the contending sides in the interest of BHS students and faculty. Reports of the disappearance of school funds continue to be the subject of post on Facebook and Social Media
