DwightTyrell-1The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is investigating the circumstances by which Dwight Tyrell of St. Johnson Village died. Last night (Monday 15 September 2014) about 8:30 PM a Missing Person’s report was made at the Basseterre Police Station when its was discovered that he did not return from Turtle Beach where he went diving with a friend.

A joint search party, comprised of police, soldiers, and friends of the deceased, was put together and went in search of him. The deceased body was found on the shoreline about 10:00 PM, logged between some rocks.

Initial investigation revealed that Mr Tyrell and a friend went diving in the sea off the coast of Turtle Beach about 9:00 AM yesterday morning (Monday 15 September 2014). The friend got out of the water after some time diving, as agreed by both parties, but, the deceased was not seen. The friend believing that the deceased left without him, went to his residence. Sometime later in the day the friend went to the home of the deceased and discovered he was not at home, and asked neighbours for him and he was nowhere to be found. The friend of the deceased along with his friend went back to Turtle Beach in search of the deceased, but, he was not found, at which time a report was made to the police.

An autopsy will be conducted on the body of the deceased to establish the exact cause of death.

Commissioner Walwyn therefore takes this opportunity on his behalf and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force to thank all who were involved in the search operation and express sincere condolences to the family members and friends of the deceased.
