Man Gunned Down In Nevis on Friday: Federation records 9th homicide for 2016

Mark Williams-1The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is currently investigating a shooting incident in Rawlins Village, Nevis, that has resulted in the death of a 39 year old Mark Williams, a male resident of Cherry Gardens who was shot multiple times by a lone masked gunman at around 7.47pm on Friday (March 11). Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence.

Williams was transported to the Alexandra Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Mark Williams’ killing is the Federation’s ninth homicide for the 2016. Williams’ shooting death comes less than two days (March 9, 2016) after the bullet-ridden body of seventeen year old Tyrique Duncan was discovered in the bushes in Hermitage Estate. He had gone missing for several days.

Another young man died last Sunday night after being gunned down while in Sandy Point. Twenty eight year old fireman, Javier Caines, originally from St. Paul’s St. Kitts but who was assigned to the Newcastle Airport Fire Services in Nevis, died on the scene of his shooting. Williams’ shooting death was the third in less than one week.
