High Day Sunday Shooting Results in Death of Young Man

Hassan Evans-1Freedom Fm is reporting a high day Sunday shooting incident in which three persons and a child were shot at Upper Thibou Avenue in McKnight Village Basseterre. This drive by shooting resulted in the shooting death of Hassan Evans aka “Sas Man” a resident of Newtown.

This is the second murder in the federation for this month. Both killings took place on St. Kitts. The first was of a former defense force officer that was gunned down in Cayon and takes the homicide count to 2 for 2016.

Reports are that Denzil Challenger sustained a gunshot wound to his back; another male Travis Hubert was shot in the leg. Sources say that a child was grazed on his arm by a bullet. Another boy on his way home from church heard the gunfire, ran, and fell and broke his arm.

According to the police report the incident occurred around 1:15 pm Sunday. Initial investigations revealed that the victims were shot on Upper Thibou Avenue by an unknown assailant(s). The victims were taken to the J. N. France General Hospital.

Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

In an appeal for assistance from the Public, Commissioner(Ag) of Police Mr. Stafford Liburd said, “We urge anyone who may have seen any unusual activity in the area to contact the RSCNPF as soon as possible.

Freedom Fm has learnt that the car used in the Mc Knight shooting was in police possession 24 hours before the incident.

Meanwhile more shooting in St Kitts on Sunday and A young man is fighting for his life at the Joseph N France General Hospital after being shot multiple times late Sunday night.

Cameron Liburd was shot several times to the body at Lime Kilm, Basseterre. The circumstances of this latest shooting incident are sketchy.

However Freedom Fm understands that he is in critical condition. His family has also issued an appeal for persons to donate blood, which is needed to save his life.

This was the second known shooting incident in St. Kitts that took place on Sunday. In the first incident three men and a child were shot at Upper Thibou Avenue, which resulted in the death of Hassan Evans.
