Hon. Senator in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) Carlyle Powell has charged that the announcement made last week by the NIA in regard to geothermal energy is a mare distraction. Speaking at a NRP town hall meeting on Tuesday night Powell stated that after 19 months the CCM led NIA had done nothing to advance the process of making geothermal energy a reality on Nevis.
He said that it was only after former Premier Joseph Parry had broken a story of a cheque that was honoured by the treasury that the NIA had made that announcement. He warned the audience not to be fooled as he is of the view that nothing will happen under the CCM led NIA. He charged that the CCM has no clue
Powell noted that the NRP whilst in office has negotiated a price for geothermal energy.
