Dr Timothy Harris’ attempt to bar defendants Douglas, Carty, Jong and Freedom Fm day in court fails

September 12, 2018 in National

Her Ladyship Justice Pearletta Lanns has issued a judgment in the case of claimant Dr Timothy Harris versus defendants Denzil Douglas, Nigel Carty, Charlie Jong and Freedom Fm.

Back in 2014 Dr Harris sued the defendants for libel and defamation of character as a result of public meetings put on by the SKNLP and broadcast over Freedom Fm. Dr Harris alleged that statements made by Dr Douglas and Nigel Carty were defamatory and sought costs from the defendants in this matter.

Freedom Fm was involved in two of these matters, one with Dr Douglas which was broadcast on Freedom and the other involving Nigel Carty which was not broadcast on Freedom Fm.

We asked one of the lawyers for the defendants Angelina Sookoo-Bobb to comment on the two judgments obtained on the 31st August 2018.

Lawyer Sookoo-Bobb indicated that following the judgments obtained against Dr Harris, the case would now proceed to trial and the defendants would now have their day in court.
